Participant Waiver
Version: 2026-10-25
1. Who and what this covers
This waiver is between you (the "Participant," "you") and Table Talks ("Table Talks," "we," "us"). It applies to every event, dinner, residency, trip, workshop, and related activity you attend with a ticket bought through tabletalks.studio (an "Event"), including any transport, excursion, or activity organised by us or by our partners as part of the Event.
If you buy tickets for other people, this waiver applies to you and to each person attending on your tickets (your "Guests"). By signing, you confirm that you have shared this waiver with your Guests and that they have agreed to it, and you accept responsibility for their compliance with it.
2. Electronic signature
You sign this waiver by ticking the box at checkout that says you have read and agree to it. You agree that ticking the box is your legal signature, that it has the same effect as a handwritten signature, and that we may keep an electronic record of your acceptance, including the date and time, the waiver version, and technical details such as your IP address and browser. You may ask us for a copy at any time.
3. Assumption of risk
Events may take place outdoors, on or near water, on islands, in rural or remote areas, and in places where emergency services and medical care may be far away or slow to arrive. Activities may involve walking on uneven ground, boats and other transport, heat, weather, insects, animals, open flames, kitchen and cooking equipment, and food and drink prepared in non-standard settings.
You understand that these things carry risks, including injury, illness, property loss or damage, and in rare cases death. You choose to take part voluntarily and accept those risks.
4. Food, allergies, and dietary needs
Our kitchens and partner venues handle common allergens, including nuts, shellfish, fish, gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, and sesame. We cannot guarantee that any dish is free of an allergen or of cross-contact.
You are responsible for telling us in advance, in writing, about any allergy, intolerance, or dietary requirement that applies to you or your Guests, and for deciding whether it is safe for you to attend and eat. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate what you tell us, but we cannot promise it.
5. Alcohol
Alcohol may be served. You must be of legal drinking age where the Event takes place to drink it. You agree to drink responsibly, not to give alcohol to anyone underage, and not to drive or operate a vehicle or boat after drinking. We may refuse service to anyone.
6. Health and fitness
You confirm that you and your Guests are in good enough health to take part, that you have taken any medical advice you need, and that you will tell our team about any condition that could affect your safety or the safety of others. You are responsible for your own travel, medical, and cancellation insurance, which we strongly recommend.
7. Conduct
You agree to follow the instructions of our team and our partners, to respect other guests, staff, the host community, and the environment, and to follow local laws and customs. We may remove anyone from an Event, without refund, if we reasonably believe they are putting themselves or others at risk or are behaving unlawfully.
8. Photo, video, and audio
We may take photos, video, and audio at Events and use them, with your image and voice, to promote Table Talks in any media, worldwide, and without payment. If you do not want to appear, tell a member of our team at the Event and we will make reasonable efforts to keep you out of the frame.
9. Release of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by the law that applies, you release Table Talks, its owners, directors, employees, contractors, volunteers, hosts, and partners (the "Released Parties") from all claims, liabilities, and costs arising from your or your Guests' participation in an Event, including loss, injury, illness, or damage to property, except where the harm is caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
Nothing in this waiver excludes or limits any right or remedy that cannot be excluded or limited by law, including rights you may have under consumer protection laws such as the Australian Consumer Law, or liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence where the law does not allow that liability to be excluded.
10. Indemnity
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to cover the Released Parties for losses and costs they suffer because of your or your Guests' breach of this waiver, or because of your or your Guests' reckless or unlawful behaviour at an Event.
11. Partners and third parties
Some parts of an Event (for example accommodation, boats, transport, or activities) may be provided by independent partners. They run their own services under their own terms. Table Talks is not responsible for their acts or omissions, to the extent the law allows.
12. Changes to an Event
Weather, safety, permits, or other circumstances may require us to change the schedule, venue, menu, or activities, or to cancel an Event. Refunds and rescheduling are handled under our Terms of Service.
13. Governing law
This waiver is governed by the laws of the Philippines for PULO events held in Siargao, and the courts of Siargao, Philippines, have jurisdiction. For all other Table Talks events, it is governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and the courts of Melbourne, Victoria, have jurisdiction. In each case this is subject to any mandatory rights you have where you live.
14. If part of this waiver is invalid
If a court or authority finds part of this waiver unenforceable, the rest stays in force, and the unenforceable part is limited to the minimum extent needed.
